    Default shadow tool in pink

    Hi,

There is not so much in the book about changing the color of the shadow tool to grey. For reasons beyond my grasp the showtool shows the glow around a shape in pink. It does the same with the other features in shadowtool. I tried to drag grey and drop the grey onto the pink only to find that the whole object turns grey. Really appreciate your input here.

    Thank you

If you CTRL-click the shadow, it should select just the shadow, and not the actual object. You should be able to select a fill color for the shadow at that point.

Along with what Ben wrote, you can also select the shadow/glow in the Page & Layout Gallery and change the color either via the color line or with the Color Editor.

Along with these, if you have trouble selecting only the shadow. Drag it out more than you want so you can easily ctrl click on the shadow. Then change the color to what you want either from the color line or color picker. Then you can drag it back to the size you want.

    But wait, there's more.

With the Shadow Tool, drag the glow shadow out to make it bigger. Then you can drag and drop a color from the screen palette onto the shadow. Then drag the glow shadow to make the glow larger or smaller.

And if you Ctrl click on the shadow as Ben suggests, you can switch to the Fill Tool and change the shadow fill to any of the gradient fills for a multicolor fill.

But wait, there's yet more! But only if you act now...

You can also simply zoom in tight enough to drop the color onto the shadow as well.

But wait, there's even more for you early birds...

You can also, with the shadow selected by your favorite method, use fractal fills, bitmaps, etc. for the shadow.

Actually there is. The Xara-Whisperer posted me a PM and said, click the wall or floor shadow button first, THEN click the Glow option and you will have a grey Glow Shadow. No fuss. No muss.
