Santa brought me a new DELL for Christmas. Yipee!

I was not looking forward to moving 7 GB of files from Dellbert I to Dellbert II.

However, Santa, considerate old guy that he is, also included a product called Detto IntelliMover in the box. It's a USB cable that connects both computers and transfers files from one computer to another. But the best part is it also moves all your settings so Eudora opens with all my mail in place, my dial up connections are already configured, all my files are in place in the same order they were in Dellbert I and so forth.

Only thing I had to do was to load and open once, each of the applications I planned to use on Dellbert II.

The whole process took about 3 hours and even transferred the photo I have on my computer for background wallpaper.

    Thanks Santa.

Gary, am I correct in understanding that it moves both files AND applications (and all the necessary dlls and registry settings)? If so, WOW!

I had a Motherboard failure in mid December and the AMD 750 was a slotted CPU and the new AMD Motherboards are all pinned.

So I replaced the 750 with a 1.7 as well as the new Motherboard. I didn't have to reload much at all because I was able to reuse the HD's etc.

But I did have to take it all apart to get at the old "bits" and reassemble with the new bits.

Other solution; remove hardrive from I, place it in II and restore files; estimated time 15 min.

It transfers most of your current settings but it will not transfer the executable files so you still need to reinstall all the software that you intend to use.
