"I think your technique and rendering of the steel texture is wonderful, Rik. Only one minor observation: Because the shadows are casting slightly to the right and to the back, that means the light source must be in front, casting from the left to right".

Gary if that is the light source as you say, would the other two faces be in shade?

Thanks for your kind comments, stygg.

    I don't have a 3D modelling programme.
So, Gary is probably the best person to answer your question.
I just tried to use a bit of imagination.

Hi Rik, please forgive me for not mentioning that you did a really good job on that image and you did, I just wanted to know, as Gary pointed out the light source, if the other two faces would be in shade. Your image from imagination is brilliant.

Okay, I committed a cardinal sin and breach of etiquette when I copied Rik's piece, annotated it, and reposted it.

This is the sort of thing that will get you kicked off certain other forums, so please forgive me, Rik, I was only trying to point out something that struck me that would improve your future efforts, and unless you give specific permission, I won't take that liberty again, regardless of how well-intentioned it was.

And to make up for it, I tried to do a version of your metal logo, and I'm not quite happy with it, so I invite your input and you have my permission to download and mark it up.

The above, is what I said.
I would hope that the laughing smiley should be enough to tell everyone, that the comment I'm making is supposed to be funny.

I take no offense at anything you've done, Gary.
Therefore, I will not accept any apology. Because, none is needed

I'm grateful that you pointed out a mistake.
Something I forgot about (whilst concentrating on other things) and I'm grateful for your help and guidance.

EDIT: On top of which, you expect me to better your M. Yeah! Give me a few decades.

Now look at yourself. Now look at me. Do you smell something fishy?

I was kidding, as everyone else has been for several posts. I admire your sensitivity and creativity, but as we Yanks say, "I was just blowing smoke..."

And my parody of your logo was much quicker to model after envisioning it, than doing something hard like drawing it.

    Now look up.

...and if this makes no sense, the UK doesn't get Old Spice commercials!
