Visibility of layers broken (urgent)

I'm under a bit of a time crunch. The sooner I can find an answer the better.

I'm using DP Pro X9, and quite suddenly, I no longer can turn visibility of layers on and off. This actually represents a bit of a disaster for me at the moment. Probably something quite simple. I can lock or unlock layers individually but the little eyeball seems to be grayed out and inactive.

Please help me out of this jam.

At the top of the layer gallery, there is a button with 3 eyes. It is likely depressed. Click on it. That will restore individual layer hide/unhide.
