Selector tool question

hi, I'm wondering why when I place the curser over the corner of a picture it looks like crossed lines instead of an arrow. When I try to shrink the picture it goes shorter and narrower with no control. I am using Designer Pro 9. The same thing happens in Designer ProX. Must be a simple way to change it, but I can't figure it out. Hope I'm posting in the correct forum. Thank you for any ideas.

You might have Lock Aspect Ratio unchecked - it should be checked to maintain proper scaling. With your object selected, look at the Toolbar on top - about the 4th tool over you'll see H/W and 100% with a checkbox next to it. I think you have this turned off, and is what is causing your problem.

Lock Aspect Ratio (see attached) is enabled when it is in the down position and objects scaled from the corners will scale proportionately.

Oh. Ah ha! Thank you Gameprinter and gwpriester! That was exactly the problem. All fixed now and I feel so much better.
