Thread: File hosting

    Question File hosting

I'm sorry if the title is vague but I didn't quite know what to call this thread.

Is there a way to put files on my website for download?
I have a folder with files in it and I was thinking of placing it in the private folder or such to share with colleagues.
It would sure save me time if I can do this.

    Thanks

You can use an ftp program like Filezilla to create a folder on your host, upload files, and link to them.

I believe if you ZIP the files, you can link to the file name and this will initiate the download.

I just tried this and it works.

If you need to password protect the page you can use something like Coffee Cup Software Website Access Manager http://www.coffeecup.com/website-access-manager/ to regulate who can download the files.

Or, your host may have the ability to password-protect folders using their online controls.

Can you explain what you did to get that to work?
I tried to do it but no luck.
