Trouble creating site menu nav bar in WD10P

I've got an existing site - have created a mobile version and so far so good (not uploaded yet).
BUT.... I can't create a Site Menu in the mobile site. Read the manual - deleted all the "buttons" (they are text only), left only the Home one and set the URL to "do nothing" as instructed. Then added sub items to the Home button with links to their respective pages - when previewing the mobile site, all I get is a "normal" drop down menu. Please help!

That's what I think you are supposed to get Mike.

One button (MENU for example) that when you tap it, the site menu drops down.

Now when you say the buttons are text only, if you are just using linked text, and not text grouped with a shape, then it is not going to work. You have to start with one button that is a shape, usually a rectangle, even a transparency rectangle, then text and the two objects are grouped.
