is there a way to paste text from one part of your xara document and then paste it into another part without it pasting the formatting, ie as plain text? most other programs seems to have that functionality except xara

Not sure Frank. If you copy and paste text from another document into Xara you have the option to past Rich Text Format, or Unformatted text, or Enhanced Metafile.
If you copy formatted or text with styles and paste it into a text area in a new document, it pastes with the default Normal Text style.

thats not my experience
i copy something that is heading 1 and paste it into a block of normal text it pastes it formettd as heading 1 which is immensely annoying
i have to paste it into textpad, copy it in textpad and then i can paste it into xara
only then does it paste it without text formatting

I think pasting into a text editor and back again is the only way Frank.

Or just highlight the text and select No Style.
