Image resolution

Hi guys, hopefully someone can help with this weird problem.

When grabbing a screen shot of a website for use in a portfolio, the screen grab looks great (as it should) but when imported into webdesigner (v9) the quality looks terrible, you don't really notice it in photos but on text it looks blurred and low res. I have attached the original screen grab, and the one in webdesigner, any ideas?

well they are different pixel sizes - so do you have a maximum width set for import is all that I can think of - resizing the jpg could cause a loss of quality

Taking handrawn's point one step further, this might work: Select Utilities/Options/View and under "Bitmaps" select "Import at DPI specified in the image file".

The larger of the two images is sharper which makes me thing that the blurry image is not at 1:1. The dpi should show as 96dpi on the status bar for 1:1

If you resize a JPEG, especially at 96dpi, it can make a big difference in sharpness.

Not made any changes except for the purposes of posting on here. The high res is a direct screen grab and the other is when I bring it into webdesigner. The screen grab utility saves as png. The different pixel sizes is just me cropping the photo, nothing other than that. In webdesigner there is no 'View' option.

I have attached the original file generated by my screen grab utility, if someone could be kind enought to import it into their webdesigner to check to see if they get the same issue. It's fine when taken into photoshop/illustrator etc, just not in webdesigner.

Edit, just noticed that the 1.4mb png file has been turned into a 150kb jpg file by this uploader, not my day is it?!

I went to the site and did a screen capture.

The image exports about the same from either DPX9 or WD9P

The problem is when you reduce the image you loose a lot of detail.

Actually comparing the two, the Web Designer screen capture is sharper than Designer Pro.

I don't have web designer [don't see the problem in designer pro] - but an observation - my screen capture is set to capture as PNG and I think that helps to avoid this sort of problem, so you could try that, maybe
