    Default New website for weddings

    Hi everyone!

We have been busy with wordpress websites recently and in particular woocommerce ones as not many clients want static websites, they all seem to want a cms, regardless of whether they need one or not. We have many clients who will make an initial post on their blog and then nothing for the next year or so.

We are now pushing static sites again as wordpress and opencart sites take so long to create and then train the clients up on using them, then there are the endless emails asking for help because they are stuck.

Anyway just venting some steam there.

I have created this site for a client in the very competitive weddings market, in particular staging (actual stages, lighting, flowers etc). I had a look around and saw that the majority were dark and full of flash content and look like they were designed during the dark ages. I decided that since the photos are so colourful the site can be far more subdued than normal so a white and light grey them was chosen. There were some things which the client insisted on having (design wise) but overall I think the site works well. They do have an issue with photos, which have either been taken with a mobile phone or professionaly but the photographer has supplied collage effect photos. I have used then anyway untill the client can take some photos themselves with a proper SLR.

Hi Skech, what a lovely site, thanks for sharing it with us. I have only had time for a quick look, but I like what I see. The light grey text might be just a bit too light especially for the social networking buttons at the top. They appear "greyed out"

I think the pictures were more likely taken with a mobile phone, looking at the angles, and composition I don't think a professional photographer would take those shots.

Thanks for the feedback, Frances. I may lighten the socail buttons slightly but not too much. As for the photos yes the majority are taken with a phone but the ones which are groups of three in one are taken by a 'professional'. Like I said I have persuaded them to have some proper ones taken.

Frances, I have darkened the text for the social links slightly and also made the social icons slightly larger, seems better now, thanks.

That is a very nice, well-organized site, Skech, but I agree with Angelize that the gray text is too light and, together with the white space, almost 'clashes' with the banner of compressed, brightly colored pictures.

Thank Boy, which text do you think is too light, surely not the body text.

Yes, I meant the body text but as I am now on the laptop and not looking at the site on my older CRT desktop monitor, which is what I did before I posted my feedback, the 'clash' is much less. However, I would still prefer a darker shade of gray for the text (and subtitles). I find that the light color of the text (against the white background) just cannot compete with the bright 'jumble' of colors of the banner and so I find it hard to concentrate on the text.

I love this website , it is very clean, and I'm agree with you about static websites, I think we'll have to be providing this kind of websites to clients for more time, most of them are not ready to handle a CMS.
