Thread: Ico image

  1. #1

    Default Ico image

I'm not finding anything in the help section, where do I go to add an ico image in the address bar for my Xara Web Designer 9 website?

When I put it in there manually in index.htm, along with the code it goes away once I update the website again.

Search "favicon" in the Xara Help.

You put your favicon image somewhere in your index page on the Pasteboard.
    You Name it "favicon".
You publish and Xara does the rest.

It does not display locally, unless you are using Firefox.

I cheated, I used "site:http://www.talkgraphics.com/ ico" from Google's start page.
As others before have mentioned, this is better that the TG search for those "it's listed somewhere!" moments.

Acorn - You can just use site:talkgraphics.com

I would search (and both of these seem to work) ico site:talkgraphics.com

    Sorry Acorn,

This didn't work. It added it it just fine with the pencil icon and called it "favicon". The image still sat on the page until I dragged it from "mouseover" to "paster board background". I had to unlock paster board background in order to drag it. The image then disappeared so I figured I was good to go. But then when I uploaded the changes nothing appears? It doesn't appear in the test browser either. Hmmm. Is it suppose to take a couple days to display? Do I need to convert the image to an ico image first?

    The image is called "mustang_logo_SM"

Poor usage of English on my part.
It stays on the MouseOff layer, just not on the page, which is what I meant by the Pasteboard.

    Hi Acorn

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!

    1. I selected "import" and added the image. I highlighted the image, then chose the pencil gizmo, then put in "Favicon" then clicked "add", then save.
    2. I highlighted the image which is still visible above my main page. I go to the "page and layer" gallery, see that the image is there in the mouseoff section.
    3. I kept the image both visible and invisible in the page and layer gallery, saved and uploaded the results. Nothing appears!

I've added these before in regular html websites with code which stays there. But because of the program, I have to do it this way since it will erase my favicon code every time I update.

I can't remember auto dealing of the favicon was in v8 ... was it?

Anyhow, click on any object on your page [doesn't have to be the image] and press shift+ctrl+alt+a, then browse to the image you want and click ok. This adds the image - favicon.ico in this case - to the index_htm_files folder. Then, through web Properties, put this code - <link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="index_htm_files/favicon.ico"> into the head section of your page(s)
