Default Re: Website will no longer upload intact - Xara WD6

    I hope they can help.

In the meantime, it is puzzling to think that any FTP means could cause issues when uploading just *one* simple announcement page (all other files that were used to build the site in the past have been removed). Is this even possible?

At present, there is just one simple page that incorporates a few Xara elements and includes just enough html to say the site is down and to direct visitors to a few other sites. How could such a small amount of data be messed up upon uploading, compared to uploading and updating many pages and a lot of graphics, links, etc. for over a year?

As mentioned earlier, we will try filezilla over the weekend.

    Thanks.

Sometimes when you fix one problem, the fix creates several new ones.

When you consider how many million lines of code there are for any OS it is almost impossible to make sure that one fix is not causing other problems.

some graphics are partially visible; code appears in places. The site looks fine locally but not on the web.

It looks like the problems introduced by Microsoft in the IE11 update. Are you absolutely sure that a windows update didn't install IE11 without you noticing?

The computer where Xara is installed uses Safari and does not have IE installed.

I wonder if the windows update pulled in IE11 without you noticing?

So far, every instance I have seen of this problem being reported has been due to IE11 being installed in a windows update. It matters not if you actually use it.

If that's not it, I have no idea.

Are you sure about that. IE is needed by Windows update and is installed by default. Xara would not be able to work without it!

We just checked the computer and indeed IE 11 is there, even though we never use it. So what is the fix? You said to try to roll back to IE 10. How does one do that? Or will filezilla do the trick? You said Xara can't work without IE, so if we uninstall IE, I assume Xara won't upload, correct?

How do you do this? Do you uninstall IE11, or is there another way? Thanks.
