Anyone using XTV thumbnail viewer in Win7?

I've added it "by the book" from the website's instructions (although there's no mention of Win7 other than under the implied umbrella of NT).

I placed the prescribed reference to c:\XVT in the System Path variable in exactly the form that is shown. My result is that no images are ever displayed.

Is this utility viable for use with Xara Pro under Win7? If so, what have I missed? The setup seems so simple.

Yes, I had seen that in my searches. The problem with the Xara-generated thumbnails is that they're so small on my 1920x1024 monitor that they're useless ... which is why I'm seeking the XTV alternative. But if anyone knows how to make Xara generate 256x256 thumbnails, I can certainly live with that size*.


* to be fair, Xara CAN generate larger thumbnails. I've measured some up to 240 pixels. The problem is that you have to run your workspace at something like 6,000x6,000 pixels. THEN you get larger thumbnails. But you end up setting your workspace view to 10% to see anything normal size. I don't find that practical.

Yes ... and mainly the thumbnails in Windows Explorer. I have no problem with the page/layer displays inside Xara because the pages are all right there. The difficulty is in selecting the right page from dozens or hundreds on a disk directory.

I think you may need to change the Views button. In Windows 7, try choosing the Start Button>Help and Support enter 'Change thumbnail size and file details' in the search box; it should be the first entry.

I am familiar with the Win Explorer choices ... which is how I got the measurements I posted in #3 above. What I'm trying to view is larger thumbnails, which is what XTV is supposed to provide.

So, let me restate my original question:

Anyone using XTV thumbnail viewer in Win7?
