    Default Monochrome portraits

Hi all! The last thing I posted here was in 2008, so not many of you will recognize me, but I still use the latest version of Xara on odds and ends. I've been retired since 2008 and, well, I've been busy with other things.

But recently I decided to work on an art project. I hang out with a bunch of other retired folks, and we all fly R/C model airplanes every weekend. I write a blog for the club, and I take lots of pictures of the airplanes and the pilots. For some reason, I decided to do portraits (using Xara) of all the old farts that participate in our flying club.

    In black and white.

Here's the first one. His name is Joe...

    Thanks Larry.

In retrospect, I probably should have posted this in the Xara gallery, as the images are all 100% Xara. My previous posts were here because I was showing works that were SketchUp + Xara. Oh well, here's another portrait. This fellow's name is Walt.

That's pretty nice too Terry. Looks like you got it down pat.

All of these are done from photos taken in bright sun, so (unfortunately) everyone is wearing sunglasses.

These two are Larry and Pat, respectively, and I'm caught up for now.

I need at least six for what I have in mind, so there will be another two after these, but probably a week apart.

And this is Jeff, number six.

The next step will be to assemble these into a strip that will be used as a blog header, and add some finishing touches.

And, just for comparison, the existing blog banner that will be replaced (I change banners with the seasons).

Everyone pictured in the old blog banner is shown in the new one except the guy in the white shirt -- that's me. I didn't do a selfie portrait.

I notice that the images are limited to 800 pixels wide -- the originals are 940 wide (my Wordpress standard).
