Looking at Hans' feedback, saying that the Start8 button still works after upgrading to Windows 8.1, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade.

Pleased to say that Start8 still works. That was my only concern.

However, if you are also going to upgrade to Windows 8.1, then be aware that some or many of your programmes may need re-installing.
I had to re-install Designer Pro x, Xara 3D Maker 7 and a few other programmes.
    You may experience the same?!

So far I haven't found an application that needs reinstalled. But I did also make sure 8.0 was fully updated first. So reinstallation isn't universal...for which I am (so far) thankful.

    Me?
    I like it.
Trouble is, everyttime I want to upload to YOUTUBE from Movie Maker Live my Youtube account name won't accept my details and you NEED an account to download things.
But on the plus side, Some od the apps're easier to use on a big screen than on a smartphone. I only upgradred to Windows 8 because my previous laptop wasn't worth sorting out (t was the screen that put the nail in the coffin bjut I kept my best/most importatnt stuff on external hard drive).
