No, if you want to attach a xar file you need to click the "Go Advanced" link instead of "Post Quick Reply"
You need to cut the object out of your photo. Then you can add an outline to it.

If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.
They're going to kill me anyway and I'd love to die the way I lived:

Ah, I was trying to use insert image - here it is. - jb contourtoo1.xar
Yep, for bitmaps slice the object out then add a line width.
OK - I cut the vase out of the photo - whatever you did put the background back in. I can't use it that way. So how do slice and add a line width with the one I have? - jb
Jeb I just used your original vase bitmap from the bitmap gallery so it was easier on my eyes, but the process is the same.
Use the shape tool to outline the shape of the vase then slice it out..
First, I went to help and read through the slice section - all I have to say is, "You've got to be kidding." - jump through all those hoops to put an outline around something? With all that Xara can do, that is the simplest way to do it?
Now, I already had cut the vase out getting rid of the background - no matter what I do with yours it still had the background behind it. I can't use it that way.
Tks for the help to all but between here on TG and what time I had spent trying to find a way to solve the problem I have spent over 5 hours on this - I will just use it without the outline. - jb
No, you have not cut the background out, you have eased it - that's not the same thing at all. Now, I already had cut the vase out getting rid of the background - no matter what I do with yours it still had the background behind it.
Remember this is vector application, not a paint program.
Jeb, there are no hoops, just actions and procedures that need to be done. No other software can do what you are expecting Designer to do.
Raster images are rectangles no matter what, even if the pixels are transparent.
So you have to create a path around the 'shape' you want to outline, how else will the application know what you want??
It takes only a couple of minutes (if that) to cut the shape out, Jeb.
Here's mine, albeit roughly done.
I appreciate the help but it is almost beyond my comprehension that all that Xara will do and it can't - simply - put an outline around something. The glow shadow would work if it was nice and smooth rather than jagged as it comes out.
Take care - jb
