hiding google analytics code from website

So I've just noticed that the tracking code from google analytics, that I've got in a repeating placeholder, is showing up (text) on my website, in the upper left corner.

The code is entered in the Analytics tab of the document Web Properties.

I've tried hiding the placeholder and republishing to no avail. Any suggestions out there?

The tracking code should not appear on the page in the browser.

The tracking code should go in the Website Properties > Website > HTML (head) section and not a placeholder. This will track each page.

In the newest versions, (9) there is a specific area for this but in the older versions it was kind of vague (as you have discovered).

I just exercised that new input field in Web Properties / Analytics for the first time, adding my client's google tracking code. Checking the web page source code after export, it appears that the script is added as the very last item in the header, just before the body begins.

What's especially convenient about the new feature is that you drop in the analytics code once in the dialog, and the code is added to every page in the site on publication (export). Time saving, and very handy if a code must be removed or changed after the fact on a large site.

Ack! It should be HTML (head) as Jon states. (I corrected my previous post).

It's handy too if you already have a site done and you need to add tracking. I did a site for a client and at first they weren't sure if they wanted me to set up analytics so the site went live without it and then the client changed his mind all I had to do was pop the code in the Analytics tab and upload.
