Default new to Xara & question #1

I'm quite familiar with Corel Draw, Illustrator, Quark, Ventura, PageMaker (even MS Publisher), and the rest from my 20 years running a PostScript service bureau.

But in tinkering with the trial version of designer Pro X9 I can't figure out how to do a very simple thing.

put a box around a rectangular photo or alternatively, put a photo into a box and have the rule around the edge properly trap the image..

Is there a tool similar to Corel's clipping tool?

    TIA

    Hello mact, Welcome to Talgraphics!

When you bring your photo into Designer Pro it is already in a vector container. To apply an out line simply select a line width from the line width drop down box.

also you can create any shape and place it underneath your photo select both and tap Q on your keyboard to apply a clipview which I believe is similar to corel's clipping tool.

    Thanks.

does XARA use the Corel idiom of right click (on a color) strokes the selected object, and left click fills?

Yes...but the default installed behavior is to pop up a menu on the color line. This can be changed in the options for Xara applications.
