A logo based on marketing strategy is not the only solution. For example, what is the marketing strategy behind the Apple logo? And yet it is one of the most recognizable logos in the world. CocaCola, IBM, Nike, NASA, FedEx, MacDonald's, etc. The only strategy behind these memorable logos is good design and a lot of exposure.
Having a strong marketing strategy as part of selling your product or service is another matter altogether. But a logo is a mark, a symbol. And if the design is good, and the logo is used correctly, that is the best strategy.
