I'm still waiting for a replacement CD, because the first Vue 4 Pro CD was damaged. It's been over two weeks already since E-on Software promised to send me the new (hopefully working) CD. You can see this one as a statement on customer support (or perhaps the transport service cannot find its way to Finland)...

    The pick-up is from http://dmi.chez.tiscali.fr/

    Thats cool

What are your thoughts on Pro Paul I am thnking of getting a copy when it plays nice with Panther ? ...for me its cheaper then xfrog and ozone for skies etc, plus a friend won a copy of Vue 4 and didnt want it so is sending it to me and I will upgrade.

I really like the rock maker and terrain maker as well as some of they very intuitive knds of ideas Vue have included. One thing I couldnt find was how it handles water.

...as you can see in the image above, I haven't got it yet (still?)

But the reason I ordered it and "sidegrading" (sic!) is because you can now export your object and sceneries from vue, including the vegetation. And now there's a vegetation editor so you can manipulate the trees etc. Also the support for other apps is much improved, and they have added an autoupdate which is good because the first releases of new versions are always buggy

I have stuck with Vue since version 1.2, mostly because it is (mostly) a very intuitive and fast application, and also a very good renderer. Also there's a really great amount of presets for materials and atmospheres and they are usually a good starting point when start meking your own. I don't really understand what you (Stu) are meaning with "how it handles water". Water, and other liquids, are just materials like everything else in Vue, and you can add a water plane that covers teh ground.

    Cheers Paul

Water - ah sorry,I mean does it have a water editor where you can adjust ripples and have wave sizes etc and sea settings, that sort of thing, like the rock editor,or does it just support procedural materials applied to shaped geometery you make yourself.

Ok, no I see (sea? )

No, there's no water editor, but the usual trick is to apply a water material to a terrain, and then you shape the terrain into waves like you do when you edit rocks and stuff. And if you have a hard time shaping the waves in the terrain editor, you can paint your waves in ie photoshop and then import the bitmap in Vue's editor.
