I'd sure appreciate someone walking me through editing a default brush. What I'd like to do is modify the default 'chalk' brush stroke, keeping all the attributes except for changing the colour to 80% black, and the line width to say 2 points. And then save this as a new brush. This must be simple, but darned if I can figure out how to do it despite reading the help file and many frustrating trys. I just seem to end up with the same old brush--and at around 14 points.

    Hello Phil

In the Fill Properties tabbed section, select Local Colors Replace: and check All Brush Colors.

Close the dialog and with the line selected, change the Width on the Infobar to 2pts.

Change the outline color to any color you want and the chalk text will change too.

    This help?

Yes, I see how that works Gary, thanks, but I'm still floundering. What I need I think is a brand new brush that will be there for the life of my project and this brush will be just like the default 'chalk' except it will be black. I can't seem to make this happen.

    Hello Phil,

First I apologize for the file size of the attachment. I hope these instructions help.
This is the way I would make a customized brush from the Chalk brush.

    Hi Bill,
Can't thank you enough for your clear explanation, and, bonus, illustrated too! Just one more example of how great the people in this forum are. Very grateful for your time and attention,
