    Default Using widgets

I tried to use the countdown widget, and everything seemed fine except that when it is on the website the numbers are obscured by an ad which can only be removed by taking out a paid subscription.

Is this true of all the widgets? seems a bit of a con really!

The countdown widget is a third party widget, as are all of the e-commerce, form, audio/video widgets etc in the Designs Gallery. Only the photo slideshow, content slideshow and chart widgets (ones that you can double click to edit in Web Designer) are provided by Xara. The content of the third party widgets is down to those providers.

I've just tried embedding that widget in a test page and I can't see an advert covering the widget. Have you resized the widget at all after inserting it in your page?

No, I just put it on the page where I wanted it.

    I'll try again.

Many developers of widgets offer a free version and often the free version has ads.

The idea is if you like the widget but do not like the ads, you will pay a small price to license the widget.

I tried again, It is not so much the ad but the fact that the ad obscures part of the number on the countdown.

It was a good idea, but not worth paying for.

I'll get a similar one elsewhere.
