    Default Abstract realities

Hi, can you please advise what is 'wrong' with the attached picture?

Basically those are just three objects by Extrude tool placed to a background which has a kind of deepness illusion.

I would be interested that concretely in Xara Designer Pro X if you see a picture and would like to correct/check its perspective, which tools you open maybe Mould tool or really count eye level/horizont/vanishing points which I slightly started like on the Guides layer.

Or in the most of the cases you just feel whether that abstract is real and not calculating too much?

Had a quick look at your drawing but find it hard to answer your questions as there are so many perspective points in your drawing. If you use the 3D tool it never gives real perspectives it just gives an approx. What I would ask you to think about or anyone looking at the drawing does it work, does it look right, does it give you a feeling of perspective, does it look real and the answer is yes.
If you want to go further with perspective have a look at Gare & Francis's holiday gift wrap tutorial here: http://www.xaraxone.com/free-stuff/g...ing-with-xara/
Another one which is worth a look is one on constructing isometrics's using vectors only: http://www.xaraxone.com/guest/guest05/index.htm
The best vector tutorials on perspective is shown here (I would call this "measured perspective") : http://www.automotiveillustrations.c...rspective.html

If you want a programme to draw correct perspective drawings that is fairly easy to use then look no further than Googles Sketchup and it is free.
    Design is thinking made visual.

Thanks the links, I would like add two ones to them about perspective if someone interested in:

    http://www.xaraxone.com/guest/guest13/index.htm
    http://www.artyfactory.com/perspecti...ive_index.html

But I find rather hard to calculate those points, so maybe if anyway it is not easy to evaluate about an abstract drawing whether that is 'real' or 'not real', then in Xara just simply:
    1) drawing a rectangle with some grids for the ground
    2) going in to Mould tool and selecting Floor perspective for it
    3) placing it above a gradient background
    4) draw something in Extrude tool and place anywhere and that will be in more cases good than not

Keeping in mind slightly maybe which is wrote on the second above link:
"There are three aspects to perspective. The first has to do with how the size of objects seems to diminish according to distance: the second, the manner in which colors change the farther away they are from the eye; the third defines how objects ought to be finished less carefully the farther away they are." (Leonardo da Vinci)"

Here is another link to a neat little utility that lets you place vanishing points to create perspective grids. It can export as a bitmap that you can bring into Xara and use as a guide. Or you can trace over it with the shape builder to create a vector grid that you can place on the guides layer.

Like Albacore suggests, when I need perspective and 3D depth in a particular illustration, I use 3D software to accomplish that, then import the results into Xara and finish the composition there as I do with most of my illustrations. Google Sketchup is definitetly a good choice for 3D software, because it's free. However, I use IZWare Nendo for subdivisional surface modeling of individual 3D objects, exported to 3D Studio format, imported to Raydream Studio to render - both are inexpensive, but paid-for 3D applications (Raydream is actually outdated and no longer exists as a software company, but I still use the software.)

I am sure there are other great tools as Angelize points out, but I use what I am familiar with and already possess.
