I have an assignment to replicate this font style (not steal) from the ABC series "the practice".

Our art director at our church has asked me to find a similar font and run it thru some "erosion" photoshop-type filters and attain the look that you see in the attached jpeg file.
I know the obvious, it's a sans serif but there are a few things unique about letter formation that would throw out my first selections.

I could sure use some of your collective brain trusts/experience.

    Thanks

Myriad, from Adobe is not a bad match, to my eyes. The 't' is not quite right at the top, the 'e' proportions are slightly out and not enough curvature on the ends of the'c'.

So not very good at all really, now I come to describe it http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

The closest fonts on my machine were Garrison Sans and Garrison Lt. Sans Bold. I used the Garrrison Sans Bold for this example. Its a little too bold, but you get the idea.

    Done in Photoshop 6.

The effect was done with Fantastic Machines Paint Engine, which are a bunch of plugin filters in one interface. You can get it for free, and it is great for deterioration effects.

I used the effect called Branch, but many choices are available with this cool plugin and its fun to play with.

Here's the URL for the plugin download: Fantastic Machines

I appreciate your quick responses on the font issues.
My visits to this forum are being limited by my new Web work for the church I and my family attend.

For an "OLD" guy, I think I am still cutting the mustard - so to speak.
Oooops pride goes before the fall....

If you have a moment... visit www.prescottchurch.com it's done in a Flash clone.
