Default Trying to add a Map to a web page.

    Hi,
I am using Web Design MX Premium 8.1. I have windows 7 Ultimate 4Gb Ram and several 1Tb hard drives.

I am in the process of putting together a web site for my Computer Club, but have not been able to work out how to add a Map to a Page.
I understand how the widgets can be dragged from the Design gallery onto the web page, but I am trying to add the map called Steetmap.co.uk.
I first dragged the 'embed a website widget' to the web page and it asks for the web location.
On the Streetmap.co.uk site their is a link on 'how to link to us', so I followed their instruction and pasted the web location into the Xara widget page clicked 'generate code' and it goes away for a few seconds and comes back with just the place holders in a 1/2 inch square, when you make that square bigger its just a black object no map nothing.
I am obviously trying to do something that cannot be done......I spent 3-4 hours on this last night, trying every which way but loosing.
    If you can help please.

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to TG.

Nobody can really tell what's going on without seeing your Xara file. If you can post it, that would be good, or even make a new one just with a blank page and your attempt at adding the map widget.

Steve, I haven't looked at it yet, but if you expect the map to appear in the design view, you will be dissappointed - the page will have to be running in a browser.

I think you are adding an extra step Steve.

In the Designs Gallery > Page Elements > Other Widgets folder try Bing Maps.

Enter the address in the address window, press search (the magnifier)

Click the Share You Map icon (the mail envelope), under Embed a Webpage, click Copy, then Click Insert.

You can use the Customize and Preview option to customize the map.

    Glad we could help.

I use Bing maps all the time for a realtor's mobile site I do. In this case I select the URL link from the options and just link a button that reads GET MAP to the map link.
