Perhaps you are, but it's still a guess isn't it?.
The OP said it was like a camera shutter, no-where did he mention 'back and forth', which I agree would indicate the scroll bar affect.

This is the transitions effect, especially the mention of in a fraction of a second the page goes white and then reappears.
Because it's still happening to the OP when he chooses default transition might be the affect caused by the script having been once written and remains in the page head on export;

You could try setting any other transition and then dropping the slider to '0' - then reselect the default transition and apply..
This would at least drop the transitiontime variable to '0'.
