    Default Showing Used Colours in the Name Gallery

    Hopefully this is a simple fix.

    I am using Designer Pro 6 and when I import some Illustrator files into a new drawing it fails to show the used colours in the Name Gallery.

    The Name Gallery picks up the text used in the file but doesn't seem to register the colours used (even the colour of the text).

    This is inconvenient as I use the Name Gallery to select all elements in a certain colour so I can create new layers.

    Is there any way to refresh the Name Gallery so it can find all my colours? or is there another way to select all entities with the same colour?

    Thanks in advance

    if the files in question are being imported with the colours 'local' [ie unamed] I don't think there is a quick fix within xara - as far as I know you'd have to give a name to each one manually, but someone else may know different

    you say only some illustrator files - is there something particular about these ? - different version of .AI or creator program for instance, or something in particular within the file?

    handrawn,

    Thanks for the reply, yes there is probably something in particular about the Illustrator files.

    They are an exported file from a CAD system.

    It's not too much of a problem as I have been doing it manually for ages and just wondered if there was a way I could save myself some time.

    Thanks for taking the time to look into this for me.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dazhee, could you provide an example?
    The color of imported AI objects shows in the name gallery here...

    @MarcT,

    Thanks for the reply,

    I have attached an Illustrator file, for reference.

    You will notice that the text comes in out of position, don't worry about this.

    Since I posted I have done some investigating and discovered if I save the Designer Pro (.xar) file and reopen it the colours appear!

    I hadn't noticed this before as I was only using Designer Pro as an intermediary, before I created a .pdf.

    I now know to save the file before I do any work on the drawing, (a bit more time but quicker in the long run).

    Thanks for the replies.

    Glad to see you found a solution.
    Must be the program that generates the file, when opened and saved with illustrator the colors shows in the color gallery.

    If you have a huge amount to convert you could always write yourself a small script with autohotkey, something like saveas/close/reopen.

    @MarcT,

    That's a good idea, I will look into Autohotkey and see what I can come up with.

    Thanks for the tip.

    Cheers,
