I'm not sure why it has taken PayPal so long to come up with this technology. It makes perfect sense and gives anybody the ability to accept credit cards without an expensive merchant account.

I'm wondering that as well, I have seen quite a few new start companies offering these so I guess people are using them and paypal were playing the wait and see game, seems odd that you have to order the reader through the app but I guess it's a good a way as any. The design of the card reader seems a bit odd as well, the other's I have seen look better but this has good branding. I received an email last year for the same thing ( https://www.izettle.com/gb/ ). But will look at the paypal offering as more people seem to trust it.
Doesn't seem to be available in the UK yet.

checked this out few months back and thought was a good innovative gadget for small businesses, however make sure you read all the facts, in my case i found my htc wildfire was not compatible with the app so could not get the gadget.........there are also quite a few alternatives but the paypal one was the one i was going to opt for due to costs.

Now that paypal have jumped on the wagon I think the others (and there are a lot of them) will drop their prices, got an email this morning for one company who have decided to give the reader away free just like paypal; they were charging $65 before.
