A discussion in the Xara Graphic Chat forum lead to the opening poster turning to Illustrator to get the effect he wanted, to simply distort vector lines and shapes to make them appear hand drawn.
I'd love to see a feature like this added to Xara.

Autocorrect: It can be your worst enema.
Me too! For obvious reasons.
Just a quick follow up. Illustrator seems to apply wave-like distortion to the vector with the following controls:
size (wave amplitude) [two different type of measurement: relative or absolute]
detail (wave frequency)
points (smooth curve or straight corner)
There is also a randomness to the effect that is uncontrollable as far as I can see.
Frances why don't you just request vector brushes. This is just one gallery, as it is called in AI, of my own custom brushes and I have about 10 other galleries of my own. That is not including the 15 that comes with illy and all of them are pure Vector and can be edited to suit your own needs. Then in CS5 the start and ends could be changed as we have in Xara but in a larger way. The brushes are the only real thing that really kept me using AI to draw my cartoons when I was working rather than Xara.
Design is thinking made visual.
+1, most certainly.

+1 from me too. This was already requested several times in the past, and remains as one of the weakest points in Xara vector/creative tools: ability to manipulate and create custom/skeletal brushes.
Some useful features would be:
- ability to work with variable weights in the same line
- ability to create skeletal brushes grouped/composed by various objects with transparency/blending effects + feathering (to create painterly styled effects)
- improved/expanded settings for brush dynamics
