Default Can't get rid of "Key Shortcuts" dialog

I wanted to change a single shortcut. For one reason or another it didn't work so I clicked "Reset to Standard Keys" and "OK". The next time I launched XDPX I got this dialog:

Name:	5.jpg
Views:	164
Size:	18.1 KB
ID:	93191

So I opened the Key Shortcuts dialog and clicked "Reset to Classic Keys" and "OK". The next time I launched XDPX I got this dialog:

Name:	5.jpg
Views:	164
Size:	18.1 KB

Now every time I launch Xara I get that damn dialog even though I try, alternately, to reset the shortcuts. Can anybody tell me what I can do to get rid of this error (short of reinstalling the product, which I am not going to do)?

I'm pretty sure this could be solved with a registry edit, but I can't concentrate long enough on the registry right now before it all becomes blurred. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Looks like you have broken it, Frank.

I haven't a clue how to resolve this. Maybe Bill Taylor or one of the members who know about the Registry will have the answer.

    Hi Frank,

Sounds like the .ini file for key shortcuts may be corupt. Attached is a zipped copy of the .ini file that has the default key shortcuts for Xara Designer Pro X. Save it somewhere, unzip it, and then go to Utilities>Customize key shortcuts and choose 'Load'. Select the .ini file (whereever you saved it) and you should be good to go. Hope it works for you.

    Best Regards,

Thanks for the assistance, Fred. I had great hopes for your solution but I'm afraid it didn't work.

Many thanks anyway. Like Gary said, I've probably broken it *sigh*

well you could run the repair option from the installation file - not a restore, and in theory at least, it won't affect anything that is not 'broken' [but no guarantees]

You can delete the entire registry tree for that version of Xara software. It will rebuild to defaults the next time you launch it.

The hotkeys configuration is stored outside the registry in a file so perhaps deleting that file would solve your problem.

You can find it here (on Windows7/8).
    C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Local\Xara\XtremePro\8 .1\hotkeys.ini

On other versions of Windows it's in a similar location.

    Phil
