Everyday for many years
Everyday for many years
I have Quark Xpress, Adobe Creative Suite 5 and other graphic programs. Whenever possible, I use Xara Designer Pro X because I can do so much more in just one program and output to pdf. True Xara will not do everything, but it is saves time and yields great results.
In my opinion, Xara is the professionalest of all the options out there, in the sense that it is the most practical, effective and productive solution.
Time is money, Xara is the fastest from a to b.
Of course you may need to massage raster images, linking bitmap images to an external editor inside Xara is a major bonus.
It would be very long to list all the advantages, the devil is in the details.
Take your time, compare and see for yourself don't listen too much what people say.

What is 'professional'?
I use Paint Shop Pro for image editing, you bet I can out-edit a large section of the Adobe PS crowd who often think that by owning the product you are 'professional'.
It's how you use software that makes a person professional, not the title of it.
This explains it well :

Agreed. I have been using Xara (XDP6, 7, X) in conjunction with Paint Shop Pro (5-13) for many years. On occasion I have to resort to a more specialized program (IconDeveloper, Font Creator) for certain things. I despise Adobe products with a passion, mainly because I find them very clunky to use, but also because of the erroneous mindset that "you have to use them in order to be able to do anything in this industry" (same reason I hate the whole "Macs are inherently better at DTP than PCs" line of thinking).
