    Default Back to Xara Websites

Been doing a fair few wordpress sites recently, most responsive but for some sites you really cannot beat the speed and creative freedom of webdesigner. This site was done as the first in a series of sites for a client. The site had to be to the point with the main offer visible as soon as the site is loaded. There is a preloader but we are looking at whether or not this is viable and the best solution, considering the slow speed of some 3g mobile phones, which is why a flash gallery was put aside in favour of the highslide pop ups.

Didn't really want to use any flash or too many images on this one, hopefully it is quick to load and easy to follow.

    Again all comments are appreciated.

Looks good Skech. the only thing I noticed was some of the highslide popups took a few seconds to load. usually Xara's HS popups load almost instantly perhaps the images need to be optimized? Other than that it looks great!

The car photo on the home page is way too large file size-wise.

I would make it a JPEG with your background color behind it. Or export it as 256 color PNG with dithering and with transparency. 179K vs 623K.

Thanks Gary, Will Do that. But does the site still load reasonably quickly for you?

The site did but not the car which is what made me investigate the file size.

Followed your suggestion Gary, should be down to 56k now.

I really like the site skech. It looks great. It also loaded super quick for me, and i am on a super slow hotel wi-fi system. I mean my wi-fi is so slow, so it to all load quickly for me says a lot. The photo of that car also laod very quickly. Not sure if you already optimized it like you guys were talking about, but it is loading quickly now for me at least
