    Default Image Clipping

I have attached threefiles, I hopeClick image for larger version.

ID:	92352. One is a screen shot of X3D work space. One is a .png export and one is a .jpg export.

Both the export have been clipped to something less than the size of the image. The .png files shows severe gradation in the shadow.

I sthere something I can do to correct them? I prefer to save files in .png to take advantage of transparency.

I would like to attach the .X3D but I haven't figured out how to attach them yet.

    Thanks,

    Gordo

    Hi Gordo.

You are exporting (I am assuming) with the following settings:
'Current window size' and you have the 'Crop' option ticked.

The cropping looks at the edge of the object and not any shadows applied.

Deselect the 'Crop' option and also deselect the 'Transparent' option.
Adjust the Width and Height until you get the right size including the shadow parts.
Then select the 'Transparent' option again before exporting.

EDIT: You can see in image 1, what the 'Crop' option does to the image.
In image 2, I have deselected the 'Transparent' option, then adjusted the Width and Height.
Remember to select the 'Transparent' option again before saving.

    Hi, been a while.

I have Xara3D version 6. When I try to export my text as a PNG it is not transparent and I can't find any controls for selecting transparent. I watched a few tutorials but they are for the newer version. Any help? thanks.

Sorry, I'm back. Nope, it doesn't work even when I select 'transparent'.

Here's a screen pic. I used the above settings...ok, wrong pic but I did it with the above settings. When I load the resulting PNG it looks like the center image on black. If I use my magic wand to delete the black in the image it creates the bottom image on orange.

    What am I doing wrong?

Hi Nancy, long time no see.

I'm not understanding "Magic Wand" and where the black background is coming from.

OK. I see that speedy Bill has posted just before me.

But, I also don't get any problems when I export as PNG with transparent background.
I have also selected the setting you showed in your post.

Why not post your 3D file and we can see if we get the result you do?

I think Nancy is loading the png into another application that is has a magic wand tool and is displaying the alpha channel as black. Some bitmap editor apps will do that and there is a way to tell the app to correrctly display the alpha channel.

    Hello boys

I use PaintShopPro for alot of my raster work and was using that.

Your comments suggest that I can open them in XaraX so I did that just now. All attempts come in as transparent backgrounds and when I export as PNG from XX it has a transparent background.

My problem is that the PNGs I bring into XX have such jaggy edges that I can't use them. I wonder if I SHOULD use the CROP selecttion since I'm NOT using a shadow?
