pop up layer doesnt work after inserting javascript code

Hi All,

In a former lesson from Gary Priester he demonstrated a way to get the top of a page loose from the top of the browser window. You had to place the following javascript to the head html section of the website. <style>#xr_xr { margin-top: 20px;}</style>

Today I found out that when you use the javascript a pop up layer doesn't work anymore. So I had to remove the script. Does anybody know if there is another way to get the page loose from the top?

Hello Frits

There is an easier way that works with Designer Pro and Web Designer.

First remove the code.

Enable Rulers.

Add a pasteboard color by dragging and dropping a color onto the pasteboard.

Drag the Set Drag 0,0 Point cross hairs so the beginning point is above the page as shown in my illustration.

That's it.

Steve Ledger from whom I got that script originally says that it should be:

<style>#xr_xr { margin-top: 20px;}</style> (change the size as you wish)

This script will not cause the conflicts you noted.

Hi Gary,

Thank you, that might be easier. Because you have to use the script tag just once for the whole site. And the suggestion you did has to be used for each page, once you have the pages. When you start a new site it's fine, because you can do it for one page and then copy it (I think).

But both ways work fine.

hi gary ive just tried the code method and as frits says it stops a popup layer effect from working - it pops up on mouseover like it should but doesnt pop back off when the mouse is moved away

trukkerz - did you add the code to the Head section?

I just tried that snippet of code in my gwpriester.com website which is popup layer intensive and it works fine. (I previewed the entire site in the Xara browser. On my actual site I used the drag down 1:1 point method).

yes i pasted it into the head section of the website and on the left hand side of the site i had 5 small pics which when the mouse goes over them they expand/grow a little then shrink back when the mouse is moved away but when the code is inserted they grow and stop like that . without the code they work fine - no worries it wasnt my site i was playing with just thought i would say i did have a problem with a popup layer
