Default Change Button Color without Losing 3D effect?

    Hi,

I'm using Photo & Graphic Designer 2013. I notice that the buttons are now under the Page Elements menu. I'm trying to figure out how to change the button color without losing the 3D effect. The Help says:

•Change the color by clicking on the appropriate colors on the left end of the Color Line and choosing 'edit'

I can't figure out what they mean. And, if I just highlight the button and change the color, it turns the button into a flat color.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks.
    Kathleen

Give us an example of one of the buttons you want to change Kathleen. What folder, what button, etc.

    Gary,

Thanks for the response. I must have missed the notification.

The file attached shows a Stretchy Button I got from the Design Gallery/Page Elements/Buttons menu. It's the first one in the list. I can change the lettering, but if the button is highlighted and I click on one of the colors at the bottom of the window, it turns everything a flat color - like the blue I tried on this example. I can turn the lettering white, for example, so it shows on the blue background, but the shading that makes the button look curved goes.

    Does that give enough information?

    Thanks again,
    Kathleen

    Hi Kathleen,

After to bring the button into your work area you can see the Theme Color 1 on the far left of the Color Line. You can open the Color Editor then drag and drop the color onto the editor or select it from the drop down list at the top of the editor.

Once it is the selected color within the editor you can move the Hue Slider to change the button color.

Once you opened the Color Editor and selected the Theme Color from the drop-down list (as Soquili explained above) you can also use the 'eye drop' Color Picker and place it over any object on your screen so you can easily match your color scheme to, for instance, to that of a banner or photo that you are using. As you move the Color Picker you will see the color of your button change.

Bill - Now that makes sense! Thanks so much for the illustration. For some reason, I just didn't notice that square. And, Boy, using the eye drop for matching is a great idea, too.

Hope you both have a great day.
