Sell your art direct -- no middlemen
This week, extended my author-direct website sales via Kagi.com to include a program I wrote years ago, SortStar, and a 21-image PDF collection of my art and photos.
Being able to sell artwork direct is very, very satisfying. Personally satisfying -- I distinctly remember a conversation with my wife, back before the internet, when we realized this would happen someday, which for me has finally come true.

This is NOT a solicitation to buy -- everyone of you looking at this is a better artist than I am! But this IS meant to encourage anyone who has dreamed of selling their images -- you now can, easily enough. If you use Kagi.com, expect a week of mild confusion as you set up your first Kagi Store page, but they are very helpful, and additional product pages come together very quickly as you get used to how it all works.
Unlike PayPal, Kagi handles product delivery. And, unlike Plimus, Kagi will let you sell PDFs and ZIPs, downloaded from their server after payment. Exactly what Xara artists need.
Kagi was set up to let programmers sell direct over the web. In business since 1994, the year I wrote SortStar. The 12% they charge is -- for me -- a VERY cost-effective way to avoid having to deal with order-taking, collection, and delivery. To be able to focus on PR, without any further product development or distribution, is wonderful.
Also, thanks to Designer Pro for the easy-to-make web page image popups! Just perfect for selling artwork and photos. Making my art page would have taken half-a-year with Dreamweaver, and, although Front Page is better, it still would have been quite hard to make it quickly, and you have very little design freedom compared to Xara.
