    ok well for a start I never said it was a 'standard'.

    I did say standard monitor - meaning the sort I use, the sort I would quess the OP is using, and the sort that is in common use in the graphics we talk about here.

    Now it is my understanding that, to a tolerance of course, the physical pixels on the dispaly itself - the bits that 'light up' - are spaced at 96dpi, and cannot of course be moved around

    I don't pretend to be a monitor technology expert, if I am wrong sorry.

    In any event, if you are doing a comparison between photoshp and xara physically measuring the screen, the point of this thread, you are going to do it on the same monitor at the same resolution are you not assuming you think about what you are doing.... and therefore the ratios and the mathematics will hold true

    People using flat panel monitors should be using the monitor's native resolution.
