Default Continue drawing from control point in Shape tool

    Hi,

Could I ask something which never knew is it possible in Xara Designer X.

On the attached small picture did with steps:
    1) Selecting the Shape tool and clicking just four points, going from the third to the fourth one a small + sign can be seen, it makes around a rectangle
    2) Clicking on the bottom Set 'no color' so only the outlines can be seen
    3) Selecting the Shape tool again and clicking on the line, that add control points with red color
    4) And here the question, is it possible to continue the drawing from the down red control point to the up one making a line? So like at point 1) a small + would again appear?

Not if it is a closed path. If the points in red are not joined, then yes you can select either point and continue drawing.

But once a path is closed, then you cannot add to it.

Thanks, so to make that line maybe this is the way rather?
    4) Selecting both control points with holding Shift and clicking on them
    5) Clicking on 'Break at points', in this way the shape will be splitted to two ones
    6) Selecting one of them at the end point, closing it again as the + sign again can appear
    7) But after, should it be Join Shapes or rather Add shapes to have again one shape? Basically, what is the difference between of Join and Add? This is something again which I never knew..

The more important question is what do you want to do?

Or are you being theoretical and wondering, What if?

Add Shapes and Join Shapes are "path" commands.

Yes rather just theoretically, as sometimes when I meet with the situation then realize that again did not ask it..

But really worth to ask, thanks very much both pictures, I was not aware that after an Enter in such scenario the line will be crossed. And of course also the Join and Add shape difference
