Hi Germaine, the "R" here looks better, but i see you have moved it more than resizing it, it´s OK., but when you give fill to this group, will have not the right effect of the Glow, anyway if you like it so then Ok.
Regarding the checker, attched two images on how to draw it, i hope i wrote the instructions right and you can understand my english, let me know if you have any hard break.
I will post my new image too, tried to use glow drawing technique on objects, not only text, just try.

Thank you Germaine for showing me the result, with more practice and drawing you will get it better.
Looking forwards to see your rope brush.

You might try AutoFX Dreamy. It doesn't run in Xara. AutoFX plugins don't. You would need a different host or standalone. I have Photoshop and my Xara editor. You would need to use a bitmap copy to get PS. It is free from AutoFX.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

    thanks wiz

it was a no brainer to be honest, any fool can take some text and apply a filter to it, any fool, like me in this case, can look at an image and with enough observation copy that image (although it's not an exact copy, you get the idea) and with sufficient patience, skill and experience, improve those techniques

what sets individuals apart from the great unwashed is their ability to conceive an idea and translate it into an original work of art

however good the copy, the kudos belongs to the original

i'm good at copying, that's all
