works for me - bit difficult to see whats going on when you expand at this width mind you, but it stays fixed

NOT WORKING. I float it like in your example, but move it around, and it will immediately expand to full size. Or, still floating : if you have 2 or more files open, which I typically do, switch to the other file, it happily explodes back. It just does what it wants. I used Xara since Corel days, this happens only now, in Pro 8.

A lame programming mistake that impairs functionality.

Until it's corrected I have to stay on Pro 7.
