For the past couple of months, every time I would open up Xara X, it would prompt me to restore the WEB file extension to (I assume) the graphic format used on web pages. At first, I didn't think much of it as I was having a lot of hardware/software challenges and was working from the most critical to the smaller ones. (Had to replace power supply, upgraded to XP Pro, upgrade a mess of other things to work right under XP...) I'm down to trying to sort this one out...

When I look through the registered file extension list, it says it's an Office data document. Huh? Since when does any part of Microsoft's Office 2000 create a WEB file? I want to change it back so it points to whatever it is supposed to for Xara, and (hope) it stays that way.

Any ideas? What part of Xara, or should it be Xara itself, that I point that file extension to?

    Thanks!

This is a bug that normally comes to light if you install another version of X (e.g. CX2) after X. The other version registers the file, X discovers it but fails to do anything about it so the dialog appears each time you start. I'm not sure how Office has become involved.

The solution is to Remove the file type from the list of registered types then start X.
