Unable to regitster my Xara product

I'm trying to upgrade to WD MX Premium, from WD 6, at the upgrade price of $69.99. It requires that I register my WD 6 product, however, it says my SN is invalid (which is why I never registered last year when I purchased it. I have entered a case but would like to get started with the new product. Any idea how I can speed up the process?
