Default Cannot get text to repel

I was repelling text the other day but now I cannot get the text to repel at all.
I checked the help files and can get it to anchor to a graphic but it will not repel.

I tried it over and over again then with a quick shape star and a different font, thinking maybe that was the problem bit still no soap.
    Any ideas?

I also wondered if the text needed to be "Rich Text" but if it does I do not know how to convert it.

Larry the text must be below the object that is to repel the text. Assign the repel property to the object above the text. Is your text a text area or a text line?

Yes, Bill. It works for me if I have a text box (with text in it) and a shape above and assign the repel property to the shape.
Haven't used it for ages, though!

Thanks guys, had the text below and made sure the graphic was set to repel text below and it didn't work. Nothing I tried short of re-onstalling seemed to do any good. I couldn't help it wonder if uninstalling some other stuff or something I recently installed broke something in my program.

Have you inadvertently set the text to repel also ? This can stop the object from repelling properly.

Don't think so Drwyd but I'll check. Thanks.

If it happens again Larry, post your xara file for inspection. Sleuthing a file is much faster than guesswork.

OK here is an example file. Some of the text will repel and some will not.

Larry the text you indicate will not repel are single fixed length lines of text, they have no space to allow repelling.

If you place the text within a text area or an extended length line they repel easily. The attached file has been changed so those two individual lines have an extended length to allow repelling.
