My Analytics code appears twice in the HTML file

I have built and uploaded my site (www.sproxton.org.uk). I added the Analytics code to the Head going through Utilities --> Web Properties --> Website. The legend on this pane says that the code will be added to all pages.

Having uploaded all the pages I inspected the HTML files using Notepad and could not find the code. I thought that there might be a glitch in the system and decided to add it to each page separately. So it was in both the global place and individually.

After a bit the code was in the HTML files twice.

I have now removed the code from the individual pages but the code is still there twice.

When I last uploaded it went very quickly and I wondered if the individual pages had not been uploaded. I will now try and edit a couple of pages to see if that forces a correcting upload. I will be back to report but would be interested in any comments from the experts.

that sorted it.

It seems that there is a fault with WD MX in that it does not recognise a change in the head code as a change to the HTML file so does not upload it.

I expect that the easiest work around will be to get WD to upload all files rather than only the changed ones but with my site that could take an hour or two.

I wouldn't think so because I was looking at the folder on my computer from which the files are uploaded.

I do hate making a fool of myself but this is one occasion when I have. :-(

As I went through all the pages removing the page specific code from the head I must have forgotten to click on "Apply" for many of them. Having checked again I find that it is all working as it should.

Mods: Do remove this thread if you wish. It is of no value except to remind people that they must press Apply or OK as appropriate.
