    Default Changing user interface colour

    Hi there,

I've just reformatted my PC and reinstalled Xara Pro 6. I used to have it set for the light background as it's easier for my eyes. I can't remember how I did this, I know someone helped me with this on the forum, but I can't find the post anywhere.
Does anyone remember how to change the program background colour from dark to light?

    Thanks for your help.

What Steve says is correct, but, make sure you do this before you set your icons and toolbars.
From past experience, when you do this, it sets your icons and toolbars back to default.

    true

[you could use xareg to save these first though I think, in version 6?]

You can also rename the 'xaradark.cjstyles' file.
This way, your icons and toolbars stay as they are, whether you change from dark to light, or back again.

Thanks this CTRL - ALT- SHIFT - s is very good, never thought that can be put back to light grey.

But, trying this I am just more sure that the darker is better

well now it has to be said that the lighter interface is not officially supported - and on my current monitor for example it does not render well in places [especially the options tabs]

the darkface is all well and good until you switch to a much lighter window [eg talkgraphics] when if you have eyesight like mine you tend to get dazzled - and if you use other programs that don't have dark interface

plus the virtues of the dark interface ae probably illusionary if you are not working in a room with specially set up lighting conditions

oh and the icons are naff

    all just my opinion

Not sure I understand. Renaming does what and how does toggling back and forth from light to dark styles work with the renaming work-around.

That's great, thanks for all those suggestions!
Before I try could you just explain how the renaming of 'xaradark.cjstyles' works? What would I have to do for that?
    Thanks!

The 'xaradark.cjstyles' file is installed where the programme is installed.
    In Windows 7 it's: C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro X

You will find this file there.
Rename it to anything you like. DO NOT DELETE IT.

If you rename this file, then XDP X (or XDP6 and XDP7) will start up with the light interface.
This will leave your icons and toolbars the way you have them set up, but, you cannot toggle back and forth between light and dark using 'CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+s'

Only do this if you're confident you know what you're doing.
