mailto: how do I get this to open in a new window?

I am using to the mailto: command to prompt opening the email program, however with a web based email, like gmail it navigates away from my site in the same window.
How can I get this command to open a new window as well.

In the Link menu (see attached).

But to the best of my knowledge, the mailto: command opens your default e-mail application, web based or free standing.
