Kerning tool in XD8

Why oh why did they change the kerning tools to a flyout? For those of us who are sticklers for corrected kerning, we adjust it a lot and now it takes twice as long to do because we need to open a senseless flyout first. Why???

I already know about the keyboard shortcut but it's not fine enough (5 times larger than with a mouse click).
Is there any way to put this back to the old way?

I can see the sense of putting this in a flyout menu as things are getting very congested on the Infobar.

But maybe a push pin option like they have with the galleries would be good. Or the ability to create a floating menu.

Yep. The flyout is such an annoyance that I'm going back to XDP7 to do text work.
