Repeating objects & Live copies Link text problem

Hi all.

I'm using some repeating objects for text and other stuff. The problem is, if I have a box of text but only link ONE word of text, the whole text box is then linked for that box and all the repeating ones?! This only seems to happen when you try linking a repeating or live copy object or text box. Can anyone help?

Create the link before setting the object to repeat.

No Luck, it still has the same effect.

Hmmm.. I cannot repeat this in DPX

Here's what I did.

[1] Create a text area and enter my text
[2] Swipe select a word or words
[3] Add the link and apply
[4] Right-click the text area with the selector tool and choose 'Create Live Copy'. The live copy has the same word/s linked.
[5] Right-click the parent text area and choose 'Repeat on all pages'. The repeated object still has the same word/s linked.

I don't get all words in the text area becoming the link.

Yes you are correct this has been fixed in the latest MX & X versions... but unfortunately I cant fully migrate to these versions because of a problem with the 'HTMLBlockText function', which I already have a thread open for here. This issue does still occur in DP7 & WD7P, its frustrating because these things dont seem like much to fix, but they are stopping me progressing in either version!

Ah, I didn't realise you were talking about the previous version..
I'm told that the 'HTMLBlockText function' issue is already fixed, so the next patch they release will contain the fix.

I do not understand using both Create Live Copy and Repeat on all Pages. Repeat populates the other pages so why is it necessary for Live Copy? Just curious. Thanks.

a Live Copy will only update the object and will not repeat in the exact same position on every page... so you can have a repeating object on different pages in different places, but when you update the text for instance, it updates as a repeating object would but allows you to change the position.
