Default A Different Kind of Font Play

This idea came about as an accident, as many good ideas do. I found out yesterday that my copy of PIXAR Typestry still worked. So I tried extruding several glyphs from the FBI font Town Ornaments.

And they look like useful chunks of design, so I thought I'd share them and invite you all to use them in a composition.

They don't have to be the hero of a design—you could make a page border from these PNG imports in the attached Xara file.

I think they're just fun, and "FUN" is in short supply and big demand these days, trust in it!

    My Best,

    Gary

P.S. Typestry was the only Windows software PIXAR ever made before going public. It's considered Abandonedware, and I just saw a copy of Typestry 2 for the Macintosh on amazon for $1,500.

Is it worth it? IMO, not at all. It's from 1994, there's many 3D programs that can outperform this little gem, but there's just a piece of PIXAR magic in the rendering engine you can come close to, but not exactly duplicate and I've tried.

I used our new Roundhead font and the L still looks like a G to me.

    That's really nice, Larry!

Nice integration with the current working typeface, too!

At first, I was put off by the ocean of black, now I appreciate the drama!

Maybe it's the gold or maybe its a female perspective but the "pieces" made me think of jewellery. I played around with some brush settings and created this bracelet.

Just for you Gare. Brightened it up. Now I am thinking I could have left the black or close to it and added a big moon.
