entering text on a popup / mouseover

I know there will be a simple solution to this, just that several hours later I can't think of it!

I have an item on a popup/mouseover layer which I need to be able to type into - only when you click on the item this makes it disappear before you are able to enter text.

E.g. click here > popup appears - enter text and submit.

Is there a way to lock the layer or a different way to approach this so once it's click it won't close?

Add (lock) to the pop up layer name.

Actually, you can't lock mouseover popups, only click (link tab) popups in versions 6 and 7.

In the new WD MX you can plus there's no need to add the (lock) name to the layer anymore.
This is now built-in via the layer properties under 'Popup settings'.
